29 Nov The Set of The Sail
It’s not what happens to us in life that determines our future, it’s what we do in spite of what happens that counts.
Just like in a sailboat, it’s not the blowing of the wind that determines which direction we go, it’s the set of the sail.
The wind blows on all of us, the favorable winds, the unexpected winds, the winds of opportunity, the winds of change, the winds of disaster.
It’s easy to let these winds and external circumstances blow us around and dictate the direction of our lives.
We cannot control the blowing of the wind and what happens to us in life. However, we can control what we do, how we react and where we want to head in spite of the wind.
We also hold the power to set a sail that will allow us to arrive at the destination we choose in the future. We can choose to have the next couple of years be completely different than the last.
No matter what age you are, no matter what circumstances you’re in – you hold this power.
But if you don’t use it to set a better sail; to find the things that can help you change your mindset, your income, your health, your relationships – nothing will change.
You will arrive at the exact same destination we’re at today.
Some people go year, after year, after year without making any changes and then complain because they’re in the exact same destination, but didn’t do anything to set a better sail.
Whether you want to admit it or not, you are where you are right now in life because that’s the destination and direction you’ve chosen.
Consciously or subconsciously, you chose to or chose not to seek out the things that have led you to the destination you’re at.
You’ve always got a choice, you can let your direction be determined by the wind or by the sail you set.
If you want to arrive at a different destination in the future, you’ve got to seek out the things that will help you change the direction of your life.
For things to change, you must change.
